Director of Specialist Services

About the Role

As Director of Specialist Services, you will play a critical role in driving operational excellence and integration across our portfolio of specialist companies. You will drive performance and have a clear understanding on the levers to pull for profitability and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage, support and lead a team of established Managing Directors; who each have their own businesses.

• Lead operational strategy and integration for specialist companies within the Group.

• Ensure cross selling and insourcing between businesses- to drive profitability and improved service for our Clients

• Act as a technical and operational authority for specialist services, providing guidance and support to senior leadership teams.

• Drive commercial performance, including P&L accountability, cost control, and margin improvement.

• Support acquisition strategy by assessing operational fit and leading post-acquisition integration.

• Implement robust systems for compliance reporting, quality assurance, and operational KPIs.

• Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across business units to leverage synergies and innovation.

• Represent the Group externally as a trusted partner to clients and industry bodies.

You will be responsible for growing the Fire Safety and Compliance division, overseeing quality assurance and professional competence within division. This role requires someone with deep technical fire safety knowledge.

Key Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role within technical services or engineering sectors.

• Strong understanding of compliance frameworks relevant to specialist services (e.g., Gas, Electrical, HVAC, or other regulated areas).

• Commercial acumen with experience managing P&L and driving profitable growth.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to align operational delivery with business objectives.

• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.

• Experience in acquisition integration and change management.

• Collaborative leadership style, respected by peers and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, technical services, or business management.

• Professional memberships in relevant industry bodies (e.g., CIBSE, NICEIC, IFSM, or similar) desirable.

• Demonstrable track record of managing multi-site operations and specialist teams.
